Birth & Postpartum Doula
Samantha is a graduate of the University of Miami and holds a B.S. in Public Health and a B.A. in International Studies. She is one of three students in her class that was chosen to be a part of the prestigious accelerated Master of Public Health program at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, and has two semesters left before completing her MPH with a focus on maternal and child health and tropical infectious disease.
Samantha began studying with the International Doula Institute in February 2019, and received nothing but rave reviews from her professors. She was born prematurely with Twin To Twin Transfusion Syndrome, and credits this as one of the main reasons she wanted to become a birth and postpartum doula. She believes that all infants deserve a great start to life, and that doulas can help realize this goal and help bridge the maternal and infant mortality and morbidity gap our country is currently facing.
Samantha is a current intern for the Florida Department of Health’s WIC Liberty City Breastfeeding Project, which aims to increase breastfeeding initiation and retention rates among Non-Hispanic Black mothers in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and she strives to become a certified lactation consultant within the next few years.
Samantha currently lives in sunny Miami Beach, Florida with her longtime boyfriend, Grant. When she is not in classes or working, Samantha enjoys going for runs on the beach, trying out new vegetarian recipes from Pinterest, painting, and playing guitar.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?Hawaii. I’ve wanted to visit for as long as I can remember, it just seems like paradise to me!What was your dream job growing up?I wanted to be a veterinarian. I still love animals just as much as I love babies, and still stop to pet every dog in sight. I can’t wait to get a giant German Shepherd in the future. If you could live in a book, tv show, or movie, what would it be?I’ve actually never seen or read the Harry Potter series, but I think it would be cool living in a world with a little magic.Who is your personal hero?My mom and Michelle Obama. My mom did an amazing job raising identical twin girls and I’m proud to be her daughter every day! As for Michelle Obama, she’s an incredible role model for women and children around the world, and is a tireless and brave advocate for healthy families, service members and their families, higher education, and international adolescent girls education. I can only hope to be even half as badass and inspirational as my mom or Michelle Obama one day!If you could have any super power, what would it be?Does being a mermaid count as a super power? That’s literally my dream.
